VIETNAM IMPRESSION HA NOI – MAI CHAU – PU LUONG – NINH BINH – HA LONG BAY – QUANG BINH – HUE – HOI AN – HO CHI MINH – MEKONG DELTA

DAY 1: HA NOI – ARRIVAL                     

Welcome on arrival at Ha Noi airport by the local guide, then transfer to Ha Noi Capital. Located in the center of the northern delta with a population of 6.2 million and an area of 3,398 square kilometers, Hanoi is an ancient city that was founded and developed for more than 1000 years since 1010. Although some relics have not survived through wars and time, the city still has many cultural and historical monuments of interest to visitors and residents.

Free day in the capital for your own discover the Ha Noi’s Old Quarter with 36 streets and a maze of lanes making up the old city center of the capital more attractive.

DAY 2: HA NOI – FULL DAY         CITY TOUR        (B)

Today you will have a full day tour of this historic city full of charming lakes, parks and shaded boulevards. Your first stop will be the Ho Chi Minh Complex where the father of modern day Vietnam. Visit sites including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on every Monday, Friday morning and every afternoon) where the father of modern-day Vietnam;  Stilt House, Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda.

Then drive to the Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, go to visit Vietnam Museum of Ethnology: Vietnam Museum of Ethnology offers an insight into the 54 different ethnic groups of Vietnam in an effort to preserve cultural heritage and promote socio-cultural diversity within the country. Finnally, stop at Ngoc Son Temple on beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake.

You will join in a riskshaw tour to see Hanoi’s Old Quarters – the top special historical vestige and the streets have a nearly 1,000-year old history. Exploring the locals’ daily life, the old-style narrow streets and houses, the colorful souvenir shops.

DAY 3: HA NOI – MAI CHAU – PU LUONG                       (B/L/D)

Depart to Hoa Binh, in the heart of Tonkin, just 80 km west of Hanoi. On the way, stop at a local market where the inhabitants of the region come to exchange, sell, buy the products necessary for everyday life. Continue towards the Mai Chau valley and settle in the village of Pom Coong in the middle of the day in a typical Thai house on stilts for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the village (Ban Lac) of Thai minority then proceed to Pu Luong (1h30 en route). The primary forest of this nature reserve is considered a “tropical evergreen forest” rich in flora and fauna.

Check in Pu Luong Retreat. Free time to explore surrounding by your own.

DAY 4: PU LUONG – NINH BINH                         (B/L)

Early breakfast, then enjoy 3-hour hiking through the Pu Luong Reserve, between rice fields and mountains. Crossing small villages, stop to discover the daily life of the local people in this natural paradise.

After lunch, drive to Hoa Lu – Ninh Binh (About 15:30), former capital of Vietnam in the 10th century, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Situated 92 km south of Hanoi, Ninh Binh is famous for the breath taking landscape often dubbed as “Ha Long Bay on Land”. On the way to Ninh Binh, you also have opportunity of discovery the water wheel of Thai minority.

DAY 5: NINH BINH – TRANG AN ECO TOURISM SITE                   (B)

Transfer to discover Trang An grottoes, which have forested limestone mounts contrasting in emerald water, caves, lowland and rivers. We will visit 7-caves-network with beautiful stalactites of all shapes and colors.

Continue to visit Mua Caves and learn about its interesting stories told by our guide. From the top of the cave, you can see majestic landscape of Tam Coc. Continue climb 500 stone steps, you are on the top of the mountain where you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the countryside and wonderful Ngo Dong River. Transfer to Ha Long city in the late afternoon.

DAY 6: HANOI – HALONG BAY – HA NOI                         (B/L)

After breakfast, pick up at hotel and transfer to Ha Long Bay. You take for a 4 hour relaxing and wonderful cruise through World Nature Heritage Ha Long Bay, passing bizarre rock formations, such as the Dinh Huong, Cho Da, islands with sandy beaches and Fighting Roosters islets. You will discover Ha Long Bay, listed as a World Heritage of outstanding natural beauty, known in Vietnamese as “Dragon descending to the sea“.

During the boat trip, fresh lunch will be served (please let us know if you do not eat seafood).

Return to Ha Noi in the evening.

DAY 7: HA NOI Q QUANG BINH – PARADISE CAVE                      (B)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take morning flight to Quang Binh.

In the afternoon, depart for a day excursion. Exclusively devoted to the caves of Thien Duong (Grotto Paradise) and the discovery of an exceptional site classified World Heritage by UNESCO.

DAY 8: QUANG BINH – DMZ – HUE        (B)

After breakfast, overland transfer to Hue by national road No. 1. On the way, stop for the visit of the tunnels of Vinh Moc, a real underground city in the North of the Demilitarized Zone, then visit the famous bridge Hien Luong which spans the Ben Hai river, former border between North and South Vietnam ( the 170-Parallel).

Discover of the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, located about 12 km from Dong Ha. The citadel was marked by a historic battle of 81 days in 1972. Visit the village of Thanh Toan located 7km from downtown Hue (all levels) and the old bridge of 200 years.

DAY 9: HUE – HOI AN                (B)

Breakfast at hotel.

Explore Hue Imperial City, ancient capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen dynasty. This large complex consists of temples, pavilions, moats, ancient gates, as well as museums and galleries illustrating the art and costumes of different periods of Vietnamese history. Visit the Mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc, the fourth Emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty who reigned from 1847 to 1883. Buildings and gardens were shaped according to the precepts of geomancy (Feng Shui). The whole forms an immense park where nature is omnipresent.

Departure to Da Nang via the Cloud Pass (Hai Van pass). Upon arrival, visit the Cham archaeological museum with an extremely rich collection retracing the history of this extinct civilization. The road continues towards the port city of Hoi An, which has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival.

DAY 10: HOI AN – TRA QUE – HOI AN                (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Depart by bicycle towards a small village typical of the Vietnamese countryside: Tra Que, located a few kilometers from Hoi An.

Upon arrival, the visitor discovers the village’s ancient market garden tradition, whose products are now famous throughout the region. The tour begins with an introduction to the different agricultural activities in the company of the farmers.

Lunch with the host family. Of course, this friendly moment is followed by a tasting of local specialties, such as the Banh xeo (Vietnamese crêpes), bringing together all the flavors of Tra Que.

After lunch, free time for a well-deserved rest or to enjoy a few moments of the charm of the village, then return to Hoi An by bicycle.

Your free time to stroll through the Ancient Town of Hoi An and old streets or enjoy the beach (weather permitting).

DAY 11: HOI AN – DA NANG Q HO CHI MINH                 (B)

After breakfast, transfer to Da Nang airport for the morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

Welcome by the local guide on arrival and discover the bustling Ho Chi Minh. Visit of the old residential districts starting with the town hall, a beautiful building of French colonial style built between 1902 and 1908. Then the Opera, designed by the French architect Eugene Ferret at the end of the XIX Century, the contemporary Palace of Reunification (exterior), and the Cathedral Notre-Dame built in the XIX century. Finally, strolling near the Central Post Office built in neo-classical architecture at the beginning of the 20th century by the famous Gustave Eiffel.

In the afternoon, visit the Museum of War, it contains mainly objects relating to the American period of the war of Vietnam. Walk in the quaint Chinese quarter of “Cho Lon” which houses the Thien Hau pagoda. From here, leave for a stroll in the impressive Binh Tay Market and visit the Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest in the city.

DAY 12: HO CHI MINH – TAY NINH – CU CHI                   (B)

Depart to Tay Ninh, center of the Cao Dai religion, Founded in 1921, this religion mixes Christian, Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian elements. You may have opportunity to look at the worshipers in their long white tunics during the midday mass.

Transfer to Cu Chi, visit of Cu chi tunnels, an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during Vietnam War. A veritable underground city made up of networks of more than 250 km of tunnels which saw the Viet Minh carry out its war of resistance against the French troops and then the Viet Cong during the war against the United States. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon.

DAY 13: HO CHI MINH – CAI BE (MEKONG LODGE)                     (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta. On arrival, embark for a cruise on the Mekong to Mekong Lodge. Check-in bungalows and lunch at the restaurant.

15.00: bike ride to Tan Phong Island for the exploration of everyday life in the Mekong Delta. Through one of the orchards, pass by 3 ferry and visit the local houses on excursion. In the late afternoon, return to Mekong Lodge, then the cooking court and dinner at Mekong Lodge.

DAY 14: CAI BE – HO CHI MINH              (B)

After breakfast, visit the floating market by boat and craft villages. Return to Mekong Lodge for check-out.

Arrival Cai Be market and cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. Then stop at local workshops where you can learn how to make rice paper, coconut candy and pop-rice, pop-corn…you can try and taste all kinds of candies with their family.

After that, take the rowing boat deeper into the countryside on smaller canals and to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Stop to visit  the most beautiful ancient house in Mekong delta with the fruits garden to enjoy the tropical fruits.Then back to the boat to have wonderful cruising along the canal to see the lively activities of local life.

 

 

Visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda on the way returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 15: HO CHI MINH – DEPARTURE                             (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Free day at leisure.

Depends on flight schedules, transfer to Ho Chi Minh City Airport for the departure flight.
