PRG 03: 21D20N VIETNAM IN MY MIND

DAY 1: HANOI ARRIVAL

On arrival to the Hanoi airport. Transfer to the hotel. Day at leisure in the capital.

Note: Rooms are available from 2pm.

Overnight in Hanoi

 

DAY 2: HANOI CITY TOUR                     (B)

After the breakfast, visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Mondays and Fridays), the One Pillar Pagoda, the Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Museum of ethnology (closed on Monday).

In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Literature and trip by rickshaw in the Old Quarter. Visit the Ngoc Son Temple, located in the Hoan Kiem lake and finally, watch the traditional Water Puppet Show . Free day at leisure.

DAY 3: HANOI–HOA BINH-MAI CHAU               (B,L,D)

After breakfast, depart for Hoa Binh in the heart of Tonkin, just 80 km south-west of Hanoi.

Along the way, stop at a local market where inhabitants gather to trade their daily goods and local handicrafts. After the visit, drive toward Mai Chau Valley arriving at midday. Upon arrival at Poom Coong Village, check-in at a typical Thai stilt house.

In the afternoon, visit the Ban Lac minority village before walking through rice fields to the Nhot and Na Meo villages (Thai minority) located at the foot of the mountain.

DAY 4: MAI CHAU-HANOI-OVERNIGHT TRAIN               (B,L)

After breakfast, enjoy a bicycle tour to the neighboring minority villages (Van Mai). The Mai Chau Valley offers excellent cycling conditions with easy trails joining villages through vast rice fields.

In the early afternoon, depart by road to Hanoi.

Along the way, stop to visit Van Phuc village in Ha Dong, specializes in the breeding of silkworms. Arrive in Hanoi late in the afternoon.

Transfer to the railway station for the night train to Lao Cai.

DAY 5: OVERNIGHT TRAIN–LAO CAI–SAPA                    (B)

On arrival at Lao Cai early in the morning. Go to one the numerous mountain markets of the province (except the Monday and the Friday).

In the afternoon, drive to Sapa and check-in in the hotel. Free end of the day at leisure.

DAY 6: SAPA    (B)

After the breakfast, early departure to visit the village of Lao Chai, where the Black H’Mongs live, the village of Ta Van, where the Giay ethnicity lives, in the bamboo forest of Giang Ta Chai to meet the Red Dao.

In the afternoon, visit the Cat Cat village before coming back to the hotel.

DAY 7: SAPA–LAO CAI–OVERNIGHT TRAIN                    (B)

After the breakfast, short visit of the Sapa market follow-up by an trip to the Thac Tien waterfalls then stop at the Tram Ton Pass.

In the afternoon, free time at leisure before departure to Lao Cai by overnight train to go to Hanoi (evening departure). Overnight on the train

 

DAY 8: OVERNIGHT TRAIN–HANOI–HALONG    (B,L,D)

On arrival to Hanoi early in the morning. Breakfast. Transfer to the majestic Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. On arrival to Halong, around noon, board on the junk for an unforgettable cruise in the Bay. Lunch of seafood’s on board. In the afternoon, weather permitting, swim in the jade color water in the Gulf of Tonkin. The day ends with a cooking class and a squid fishing.

DAY 9:  HALONG                       (B,L,D)

After the breakfast, board on a small boat to have a trip through the half-flooded tunnels and the impressive karstic limestones. Having lunch on board while cruising throught the beautiful landscapes until the end of afternoon. Back to the junk and free time at leisure until dinner time.

DAY 10:             HALONG–HANOI/HUE  (B,BRUNCH)

After the breakfast, the junk continue its cruise. In the morning, it sails through the bay and stop at a natural cave to visit it. Brunch on board then back to the pier and drive to the Hanoi airport for flying to Hue. On route, weather permitting, stop at a traditional ceramic workshop of Phu Lang at Bac Ninh. On arrival at Hue, transfer and check-in at hotel.

DAY 11:             HUE                 (B)

After the breakfast, explore the Imperial City and the Thien Mu Pagoda. In the afternoon, visit the Mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang and the Tomb of the Emperor Tu Duc, a village specialized in making conical caps and incense sticks.

DAY 12:             HUE–DANANG–HOI AN                         (B)

After the breakfast, drive to Danang through the Hai Van Pass. On arrival, visit the Archaeological Museum of Cham.

In the afternoon, drive again to the port town of Hoi An, listed as a World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Check-in in the hotel and free time at leisure.

DAY 13:             HOI AN                         (B)

After the breakfast, discover the Old Town and a Hoi An Lantern Workshop.

In the afternoon, departure on board of a boat to sail through the Thu Bon river and stop in traditional ceramic and woodwork villages. Free time at leisure to wander in the Old Town or to enjoy the beach (weather permitting). Overnight in Hoi An

 

DAY 14:             HOI AN–KONTUM                     (B,L)

After the breakfast, drive through the pictural Road 24 to Kontum in the Center Highlands. On the way, stop at Tam Ky and visit the Chien Dan Cham tower. Lunch. On route, stop at several communal houses of different ethnies to meet the Hre people. On arrival at the end of the day, check-in at hotel.

DAY 15: KONTUM                     (B,L)

After the breakfast, visit the French-built seminary and the charming wooden church of Kontum. Later, trekking through about 4 km to the Kontum Konam Banhar, Konko Wang, Kon Jari and Kon Kotu villages. Lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Jarai village of Plei Weh. Free time at leisure.

DAY 16:             KONTUM–BUON MA THUOT                 (B,L)

After the breakfast, transfert  to Buon Ma Thuot (235 km). On route, stop in a local house to learn more about coffee and pepper plantations. Lunch. On arrival in the afternoon, free time at leisure for visiting the local market.

DAY 17:             BUON MA THUOT–LAK LAKE– BUON MA THUOT                       (B,L)

After the breakfast, visit the Museum of ethnology ò Buon Ma Thuot, then drive to the Lak lake by the scenic Highway 27. Lunch. On arrival, ride elephants around the Lak lake to join the M’ Lieng village where the M’nong ethnic group lives. Sail back to the Jun village in pirogue then visit the village on foot. Back to the hotel in the end of the day. Overnight in Buon Ma Thuot

 

DAY 18: BUON MA THUOT–HO CHI MINH CITY              (B,L)

After the breakfast, excursion in the Akodhong village where the Ede ethnic group lives. Stop at the wonderful Drei Nur waterfalls then trekking in the pastoral landscape of a coffee plantation. Lunch. Drive to Ho Chi Minh City (350 km).

On arrival in the early evening and check-in at hotel.

DAY 19:             HO CHI MINH CITY                    (B)

After the breakfast, visit the China Town of « Cho Lon » where the Thien Hau Pagoda is located, the Binh Tay market, the Giac Lam Pagoda and a lacquer workshop. In the afternoon, visit the Opera House, the Fine Arts Museum, the Independence Palace, the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and the Central Post Office . Free time at leisure.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

 

DAY 20:             HO CHI MINH CITY–BEN TRE–HO CHI MINH CITY                        (B)

After the breakfast, drive to the Ben Tre province, in the Mekong Delta. On arrival, short walk in the market which gathers a lot of typical products from surroundings, then visit a brick handmade workshop. Then board on a local boat to ride down the Mekong river in the middle of busy activities of sampans. Finally, ride a bike following rivers and delicate bridges, the trip going from coconut or rice plantation views to tropical gardens. In the afternoon, back to the hotel.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

 

DAY 21:             HO CHI MINH CITY                    (B)

After the breakfast, day at your leisure at Ho chi Minh City until the transfer to the Ho Chi Minh City airport to take the flight departure.

Note: Rooms shall be released by 12pm (noon).
