PRG 01: 17 DAYS EXPLORE VIETNAM @ UNIQUE CAVES IN THE CENTRAL OF VIETNAM

DAY 1: HANOI ARRIVAL   

Upon arrival Noi Bai Airport, meet up our tour guide at Hanoi airport and transfer and check-in at the hotel. Check in time after 2pm.

Free at your leisure to explore Hanoi. Suggestion Hop On Hop Off – Ha Noi city bus.

DAY 2: HANOI – HALONG ON CRUISE   (B/L/D)

In the morning, our driver pick you at hotel and transfer to Ha Long Bay – Recognized by Unesco as a World Heritage Site since 1994 for it thousands of natural islands and one of the most magnificent scenic spots in Vietnam as well.

The permanent beauty of Ha Long is created by three factors: stone, water and sky.

Ha Long Bay includes its infinitely rich system of grottoes and caves such as: Thien Cung (Heavenly Palace Grotto), Dau Go (Driftwood Grotto), Sung Sot (Surprise Grotto), Tam Cung (Three Palace Grotto), Trinh Nu (Virgin Grotto)… Each is a grandiose and refined natural architectural creation.

While exploring the bay, tourists will feel lost in a legendary world of stone islands which shapes change depending on the angle and the light.

Welcomed and check-in boat at noon, your seafood lunch will be served while the cruise slowly slides on romantic waves of the sea.

Afternoon is time for many interesting activities such as: visiting the cave, kayaking, swimming, sunbathing, cooking class…

Enjoy special dinner dish and continuing night program with the crew.

DAY 3: HALONG BAY – HANOI – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI PROVINCE (B/Brunch)

Start-up your new day with Tai Chi instruction or just do sunbathing on sundeck and feeling the magnificent dawn scene surrounding, then having breakfast and following cruise’s itinerary (visit cave or floating village…).

Cruising on the deep and clear blue waters of the sea while marveling at the wonderful landscapes of mighty islands and green islets will surely make that vacation a special one.

Brunch/or lunch will be served on board before check out time around 11h00.

You will be returned to the main harbor before transferring to our awaiting vehicle.

Free at your leisure in Ha Noi Old Quarters.

In the evening, transfer to railway station to catch the night train to Lao Cai provice.

DAY 4: LAO CAI – SAPA TOUR (B)

Early moring arrival Lao Cai, take a rest and have a breakfast at local restaurant.

Drive to Love Waterfall. On the way you will see the wonderful views of Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range and some plantation of roses and vegetables in the valley. Our car will stop at Tram Ton Pass which is the highest road in Vietnam at 2047 m above sea level. We will then walk about 1.1 km along the Golden River to visit Love Waterfall. After returning to Tram Ton Pass, our car will drive you to Silver Waterfall. You have 30 minutes to walk around this area to enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and valley. From here we will start the trek down to the valley towards Sin Chai village – the home of Black Hmong people.

Afternoon, visit Cat Cat Village is nestled at the bottom of Muong Hoa Valley, This village was formed in the 19th century, after various ethnic H’Mong and Dzao families came together from other mountainous areas in northern Vietnam. They started cultivating rice and corn in the region, as well as weaving fabric and creating handicrafts to get by.

You can get a glimpse of the residents’ traditional lifestyle by walking into any of the houses that are open for display.

Stop at Cat Cat waterfall is one of the main attractions.

Walking through the village gives tourists a chance to glimpse into the daily lives of the local people and take part in traditional activities. Free at night in Sapa Town.

DAY 5: LAO CHAI & TA VAN VILLAGE – LAO CAI PROVINCE  (B)

Morring, you will begin on small trails down the Muong Hoa Valley toward Lao Chai village of Black H’mong ethnic people. Here we will discover their daily life and how they make traditional clothes, handicraft, indigo…We will visit the biggest valley which provides the best view for golden rice terraced fields in Vietnam. After Lao Chai we walk to Ta Van village of Giay people. It is a small group of ethnic people in Vietnam with a rich culture and beautiful houses located on rice paddy fields.

Here you will enjoy the fresh air, see terraced fields and stream, discover and visit some of Black H’mong families. You can interact them, learn about their culture and customs.

Late afternoon, transfer to Lao Cai province and visit border Vietnam – China. Take the night train to Hanoi.

DAY 6: HA NOI – FLY TO DONG HOI CITY  (B)

Our tour guide pick you at railway station, have a shower and have a breakfast at local restaurant.
Free in Ha Noi city and take noon flight to Dong Hoi city.

Check in hotel. Free to explore Dong Hoi city or relax at beach.

DAY 7: PHONG NHA CAVE & MOOC SPRING TOUR         (B, L)

After breakfast, Transfer to the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park by air-conditioned vehicles.

Visit Phong Nha Cave First is considered “First wonders”.

Take a boat approx 5km along the Son River to tour the Phong Nha Cave.

Yacht upstream Son river dreaming, enjoy charming natural scenery either side, you will see pictures of the girls, the children have fun on the waterfront and have the opportunity to experience the daily life of the neighborhood riverside village bearing the Vietnamese country soul.

Conquering the Phong Nha Cave: The longest cave in Southeast Asia, enjoy the scenery spectacular limestone, underground river system and unique stalactite in the world. Caving Fairy & Imperial admire the beautiful stalactites blocks are created by nature over thousands of millennia.

Continue the journey to visit the Mooc Spring. Enjoy the great moments of relaxation, mix the natural scenery of the romantic Mooc stream. Here Travelers will discover the diversity and rarity of the landscape, animals and thick forest Phong Nha – Ke Bang. Participate in services such as kayaking, swimming races, fishing …

Vehicle transfer you back to Dong Hoi City.

DAY 8: PHONG NHA – TAN HOA – TU LAN  (B/L/D)

This tour offers a glimpse into the amazing beauty of the Tu Lan area: caves, karst mountains, jungle, and waterfalls.  It is an opportunity to escape civilization and go deep into the rugged and untouched nature of Vietnam for two-days and one-night with a professional English-speaking guide and jungle porter team.

You’ll be picked up at your hotel in Phong Nha between 7:30 am and 8:00 am, before venturing off to the village of Tan Hoa, located 70 km away. After a safety briefing and gear check, you need to sign our Release Form before it’s off and away for a full day of trekking. The trek begins with a 2.5 km march across fields of peanut crops, giant water buffaloes, towering corn stalks, and down to the Rao Nan River. The adventure accelerates with a 30 m climb up a rocky hill to a small jungle opening where you can catch your breath before a 100 m descent in elevation down to Hung Ton Valley.

Lunch will be enjoyed in the Hung Ton Cave opening and then the adventure picks up again with some serious trekking from Hung Ton Valley and over to Mango Mountain, then back down into Tu Lan Valley (3 km). By midafternoon, Tu Lan campsite will be on the horizon, where swimming can be enjoyed in the beautiful waterfall. Afternoon activities include exploring and swimming through Ken Cave, located next to the campsite, and after that it’s back to camp for a delicious BBQ dinner.

Sleep will come easy in comfortable hammocks or tents set up amongst the trees!

DAY 9: TU LAN CAVE – TAN HOA – PHONG NHA             (B/L/D)

The second day starts with a hearty breakfast, and more cave exploration. Starting with a brief swim across the river into the heart of Tu Lan Cave System, you will break to enjoy the blue lagoon entrance before making your way 180 m downstream through Tu Lan Cave entrance.  Make your way up to explore the dry part with some climbing and squeezing, at which point you will reach the dry exit and trek a short way through the valley into Kim Cave dry entrance.  Stay for a while to watch out for a natural window in Kim Cave, and you’ll then be off on a swim (450 m) and trek (500 m) through Hang Kim to To Mo Valley. A picnic lunch will be served next to a stunning waterfall by Hung Ton Cave mouth.  Then, you will try to follow a dry path before swimming out through Hung Ton wet cave. Following this is the exploration of a dry passage, and then a trek down into Hung Ton Valley (800 m). Arrival in Tan Hoa is followed by a chance to take in the scenery with a cold drink in hand. Showers are available for those who would like to clean up and change, and then departure back to Phong Nha is at around 4 pm, with arrival in Phong Nha by 5:30 pm.

Importance Note about Tu Lan Cave 2D1N:

 

Adventure Level: 2D1N Easy for physically active guests (swimming necessary)

 

Availability: Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

(operates from mid-November to mid-September)

 

Minimum Age: 16 years old

 

Tu Lan Cave Encounter is easy for anyone who considers themselves physically fit and participates in regular outdoor activities and moderate for anyone with limited outdoor experience. Please make sure that your health is suitable for these activities, you have some basic trekking experience and you are able to swim before taking part in the adventure.

  • 12 km jungle and mountain trekking, rocky terrain
  • 3 km caving
  • 1 km swimming in caves (from 200 m – 500 m each cave)
  • Elevation change up to 150 m (between valley and top of mountain)
  • 2 days and 1 night in jungle and caves

Any member of our  guide team reserves the right to turn around any person at any time without compensation or refund as deemed necessary for safety or conservation reasons.

 

We will provide you with the following:

  • Camping gear: tent, camp light, sleeping bag, mattresses, pillow
  • Caving & safety gear: caving helmet, caving headlight, life jacket, gloves
  • Light PVC backpack (if you do not want to take your own, as it will get wet)
  • Semi dry bag (for clothing and personal belongings excl. electronics)
  • Basic canvas trekking boots (only if you do not have your own pair) sizes 36 – 46
  • Meals: picnic lunches, dinner (day 1), breakfast (day 2)
  • Professional English-speaking tour guide and guide safety assistant
  • Porter team to carry all camping gear and prepare all meals
  • Shared dry box for phones and small cameras (limited availability for larger cameras)
  • Water filter and purifier (used only by guide and porters)
  • Basic camping facilities with eco-friendly compost toilet using western toilet seat
  • First Aid Kit and Medical Rescue Equipment (application by guides and porters only)
  • Secure Storage Facility at Oxalis Headquarters to store all luggage you will not be taking on the trek

Please also bring with you the following:

  • 1 long (easy to dry) pants and 1 long sleeved shirt to wear during the trek (quick dry)
  • 1 pair of shorts and t-shirt to wear at campsite plus your swimsuit
  • 1 pair of trekking boots/shoes – difficult terrain, good footwear necessary. Gore-Tex/waterproof boots are NOT recommended as they do not drain well (if you prefer your own comfortable pair)
  • 1 pair of flip flops (sandals) for campsite
  • 1 medium size towel
  • 2-3 pairs of calf-length densely woven socks (not ankle socks!)
  • Personal items: mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hat, camera, underwear, toiletries

If you are trekking in the colder months (November – March) please bring additional warm clothes for the evening and an extra change of long pants and shirt for swimming.

This tour not only leads you to visit the biggest caves in Tu Lan, Hang Tu Lan and Hang Ken, but also enjoys different activities such as jungle trekking, caving, and rocky hill scrambling all during just a 2 day trip. It would be a perfect choice for those who have good physical fitness but not much trekking experience. It’s also one of the top choices during the region’s hot summers. This program could be changed by local authority.

DAY 10: PHONG NHA – HUE CITY           (B)

After breakfast, drive towards Hué (180 Km), the ancient capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty.

En route, visit some famous sites from the war including Hien Luong Bridge across the Ben Hai River, which was once the border between North and South Vietnam along the 17th parallel.

Arrive in HUE and visit Hue Capital Citadel (Royal Citadel) – a UNESCO World Heritage site – standing for over 200 years and consisting of over 100 fascinating architectural works almost remained unchanged, the Royal Citadel is an ideal place for those wishing to better understand an architectural and cultural beauty as well as an important history of Vietnam.

Pm: take a boat trip along Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda situated on the north bank of the Perfume River. It is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved religious sites – a symbol of Hue city.

Stop over at Dong Ba Market to see the daily life of local people.

DAY 11: HUE – DANANG – HOI AN ANCIENT TOWN        (B)

After breakfast, drive to Danang via the spectacular Hai Van Pass, visit the Cham Museum, probably best museum in the world focusing on the ancient kingdom of Champa. Continue on to the charming old town of Hoi An, an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port during the 15th to 19th centuries. Many of the buildings in the town reflect historical architectural styles and the whole town is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site.

Afternoon, explore Hoi An Ancient Town –  an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

Visit the traditional architecture and relaxed lifestyle, the centuries-old homes of merchants, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colorful, bustling market…

DAY 13: HOI AN – DA NANG – HO CHI MINH CITY           (B)

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for departure flight to Ho Chi Minh.

Meet up our local tour guide and transfer to city centre. Ho Chi Minh City (abbreviation HCMC), commonly known as Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam which was once considered “Pearl of the Far East”.

Start a city tour by visiting The Independence Palace, also known at the Reunification palace, was built on the sight of the former Norodom palace. The Independence palace is a widely known landmark of Ho Chi Minh City and was designed by the architect Ngo Viet Thu. Continue seeing the beautiful structures from the French Colonial times such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, the historic Central Post Office. Followed by the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum the museum has a vast display of the both the Indochina wars.

Daytime in this city is to explore historical landmarks, museums, pagodas. As night falls, the city becomes young with fun and exciting tours, theatre performances, and music clubs.

DAY 14: CAO DAI TEMPLE & CU CHI TUNNELS    (B)

Morning, our tour guide and driver will pick you at hotel and transfer to Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh. Its exterior is decorated with multi-colored dragons of all shapes and sizes competing for space with a number of swastikas. Cao Dai Temple is the eclectic mix of colours and the amazing use of architecture create a space of beauty, spirituality with a somewhat surreal flavour to western palates!

In the afternoon, transfer to visit Cu Chi Tunnels – a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists – the network of over 200km of tunnels became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens.

DAY 15: HO CHI MINH – CAI BE – CAN THO   (B)

Start a day by a Mekong Delta Tour to Cai Be market on Tien River, one of the many well-known floating markets in the western region of southern Vietnam was formed since the 19th century. All the goods are transported to the market by rafts and boats. Stop at local workshops where you can learn how to make rice paper, coconut candy and pop-rice, pop-corn…you can try and taste all kinds of candies with their family.

And take the rowing boat deeper into the countryside on smaller canals and to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Stop to visit the most beautiful ancient house in Mekong delta with the fruits garden to enjoy the tropical fruits.Then back to the boat to have wonderful cruising along the canal to see the lively activities of local life.

We continue to cruise to visit Cai Quy ancient house, and stop to see another family workshop where they make noodle and the rice husking mill…

In the afternoon, transfer to Can Tho city – the land of honest people, friendly smiles, green fields, laden-fruit orchards and romantic rivers.

DAY 16: CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET – HO CHI MINH   (B)   

Morning, we start the boat trip to visit Cai Rang floating market-the biggest floating market in the Mekong delta.where we can have chance to get the most colourful pictures.

After discovering Cai Rang floating market, get off the boat to walk around the An Binh market- this is the very lively farmer market, where we can see all things from Mekong delta farm…

Back to the boat then continue to Rau Ram canal for walking tour along the village road to see the activities of local life and stop to visit The rice noodle workshop to learn how to make rice noodle…  We are cruising to the other canal to enjoy the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere of countryside.

Go to visit Binh Thuy Ancient House, the rare and perfect house preserved with the specific character of Cuu Long Delta in the past century.

Return to Ho Chi Minh city in the late afternoon.
